After his cancellation for the Davis Cup home game against Portugal in Schwechat, Austrian tennis fans also have to do without Dominic Thiem in Styria at the ATP Challenger tournament in category 125 in Bad Waltersdorf. The 2020 US Open champion still needs a longer recovery period due to his severe stomach inflammation.

Because of the gastritis-like symptoms, the 30-year-old had to give up his second round match at the US Open against US youngster Ben Shelton and has not been able to play in a tournament since. The next start is planned to take part in the ATP 250 tournament in Astana, Kazakhstan, where the Lichtenwörther native is currently in third place in the list of runners-up.
