The past few weeks have not been particularly brilliant for Christopher Eubanks: at the Challenger in Monterrey, the American lost to Guido Andreozzi in round one, as well as a few days later in Acapulco to none other than Madrid's tournament director, Feliciano Lopez. And there was no sense of achievement for the 26-year-old Eubanks in Indian Wells either: At the start of the qualification, he had to admit defeat to Maximiliam Marterer in three sets.

Qualifying for the main draw in Miami, which Eubanks sealed with a delicate win against Lukas Klein, was a success in itself. And now? Christopher Eubanks is suddenly in the quarter-finals of the second ATP Masters 1000 tournament of the season after a 7: 6 (2) and 7: 6 (5).

Eubanks now against Medvedev

Colleagues like it too. Casper Ruud, for example, who is a bit unlucky at the moment, congratulated Eubanks on Twitter after his last win against Hubert Hurkacz.

Now it's on in Miami against Daniil Medvedev, the roles will be clearly divided. Regardless of the outcome of this match, it is already clear that Christopher Eubanks has fought solidly among the top 100 players in the world - namely in position 85. This will be a new career high, so far this was rank 102.

Incidentally, Eubanks joins the long list of players on the ATP tour who have refined their athletic training at college. From 2015 to 2017 he studied and played at Georgia Tech and also had little academic debt. Eubanks is missing just a few exams to graduate.
