Juan Martin del Potro is likely to return to the ATP tour soon

The (almost endless) wait will soon come to an end for the fans of Juan Martin del Potro. It's been a good year and a half since the Tower of Tandil played its last match on the ATP tour. Since his loss to Feliciano Lopez at the ATP 500 event at the Queen's Club in London, the Argentine had to take a break due to an injury. Although this was a repeated setback in Del Potro's injury-ridden career, the 33-year-old worked hard on his comeback. And this work now seems to be paying off.

As it became known on Thursday, Juan Martin del Potro will return to the ATP tour in early February. The Argentine is planning to start at three events there in his native South America - on February 7, the 33-year-old wants to start at the ATP 250 event in Buenos Aires. This is followed by appearances in Rio (ATP 500 event) and Santiago (ATP 250 event). Most recently, del Potro had to struggle with injuries to the kneecap in particular - and had to go under the knife several times.

Del Potro back on the hard way

The way back was a tough one, as del Potro emphasized on Instagram: "I trained really hard, some days better than others, but always with the hope of being able to compete again at the beginning of next year. It would be something quite It's special to come back in Buenos Aires and then play in Rio. " As you can imagine, so del Potro, he would give everything every day so that he and his fans could meet again soon. And of course keep them informed about his recovery process.

Juan Martin del Potro will soon be making another comeback. Just like the former world number three did in 2016. After a protracted wrist injury, del Potro was able to play his way back to a Grand Slam final (US Open) in 2018. Only to then - as is well known - injure his knee a little later. And fail again. It remains to be seen whether the Tandil Tower will have a similarly successful return in the quiver in 2021.
