Daniil Medvedev has mixed feelings about the 2022 season

In any case, it was not a dream season that Daniil Medvedev put on the international tennis floor in the season just ended. Although the 26-year-old was able to climb to the top of the ATP ranking in February, the 2021 US Open champion did not follow the brilliant start of the year with the final at the Australian Open. Sure, the tournament victories in Los Cabos and especially in the Wiener Stadthalle are not nothing, but in the end they do not bring more than seventh place in the ATP year-end ranking - clearly not enough for a player like Daniil Medvedev.

"The experiences I have are amazing"

"What I want to show in the 2023 season is above all the best version of myself. I didn't always play well in 2022. Sometimes I didn't feel like myself on the court," said the Moscow self-critically in a recent interview. That's also normal and happens in the careers of all tennis professionals: "There are times when we're better than others and vice versa. World number one was a goal, a dream when I was little and I intend to win it back as soon as possible."

A lot has also happened in the Russian 2022's private life. In this area, however, everything is fine: "I'm a really happy person at the moment, with only positive emotions. The experiences I'm having are amazing. Many, many people had told me that before: But I could do it I didn't understand until I had a baby. And now I totally understand. It's a lot of fun. I'm really happy and very grateful to my wife. I could talk about this for hours."
