Zverev won 6: 4, 6: 2 in two safe rounds and was rarely in danger of losing control of the match.

Zverev managed the early break right at the beginning of the game, in which both players needed some time to get over their nervousness. Seyboth Wild had two direct rebreak opportunities, but was unable to take them. As well as another chance in Zverev's following service game. The Hamburger, on the other hand, had three more chances for a second break to make it 4:1, but Seyboth Wild held on. Zverev then served himself to the set lead with two service games without losing a point. /

In the second set, the third in the world rankings managed a break to zero to make it 2-1, the decision came with the second break of the set to make it 5-2. Zverev then served zero to the German lead.

Now Jan-Lennard Struff can follow suit: he meets Thiago Monteiro in the second match of the day. The match is available here in the live ticker.

Zverev was only called up for the qualifying game against Brazil next week after originally canceling because the game didn't fit into his schedule.

"Playing for my home country is always very important to me and I'm proud to represent Germany. Together with the team, I have the big goal of winning the Davis Cup. Whenever there's a chance, I'm happy to do my part. Even if I criticized the new Davis Cup format, there might be the opportunity to play with the team in Germany again. That would be a big dream of mine," said Zverev now.

On Saturday from 4 p.m. the doubles will continue, after that - if nothing has been decided yet - the two final singles will take place.
