Juan Martin del Potro has hired fitness coach Duglas Cordero as the Argentine seems to have serious intentions of competing at this year's US Open. Del Potro, 34, was out for three years and six months with a knee injury before serving again in Buenos Aires last year. There, however, lost in the first against Frederico Delbonis and then announced his resignation for health reasons.

However, the 2009 US Open champion recently announced that he would be attempting a comeback at Flushing Meadows this year. And with a famous man by his side. Fitness guru Duglas Cordero has already worked with many big names in the tennis circus and always supports Dominic Thiem in his fitness units. On Twitter, Curdero shared a picture with del Potro working together.

The US Open has always been a special tournament for del Potro and that's why he would like to serve at least one more time in Flushing Meadows. Del Potro was twice in the final in New York. In 2009 he even won the tournament.

"My goal is to be ready to play an official game in the tournament. I don't know if I'll be 100 percent fit, but if my last tennis match has to be this year, I want it to be at the US Open is happening. I'm going to work hard for the last time, maybe in my career, and then you never know. God will decide if I'm ready or not," del Potro told the Associated Press.

If del Potro really decides to compete at the US Open this year, the organizers will not put any obstacles in his way. "Juan Martín is a true favorite of US Open fans. We would be delighted if this former US Open champion were to be part of our tournament this year," said US Open Tournament Director Stacey Allastar.
