It will never be like it was then - and certainly not in Switzerland. At least if you apply the standards set by Roger Federer and Stan Wawrinka. Measuring the next generation by this would be downright absurd. However, with Leandro Riedi and Dominic Stricker, the Confederates have two players who started their professional careers promisingly.

Riedi is currently 126th in the world rankings, Stricker 118th, both players were also part of the Davis Cup team that won 3-2 against Germany in Trier. Riedi was not used, Stricker was allowed to show his potential at least in doubles alongside Wawrinka.

Coach Kindlmann - "Dominic is a great boy"

Now the 20-year-old left-hander has a coach who knows how things work in the tennis circuit: Dieter Kindlmann, who has worked for the Swiss Tennis Association for the past few years. Kindlmann has primarily made a name for himself on the WTA Tour, where he has taken care of Maria Sharapova, Madison Keys, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Catherine Bellis.

By the way, Stricker and Kindlmann have a home game this week: The local hero is in first place at the Challenger in Biel. The task with Dominic Stricker is a "super exciting project", as Coach Kindlmann explains to tennisnet. In addition to the sporting skills, there is also: "Dominic is a great boy."
