In the end, the field thinned out, and so it happened on Friday that Novak Djokovic and Nick Kyrgios completed their final training session in Aorangi Park just a few meters apart. And almost at the same time. /

Kyrgios had spoken on Thursday of a "bromance" that would have developed between him and Djokovic recently - after he had hardly missed an opportunity to gossip about Djokovic in the previous years.

As part of Djokovic's failed trip to Australia, however, Kyrgios put himself behind the 20-time major champion, and he hasn't forgotten that. But to speak of a "bromance"? Found Djokovic still premature.

Of course, he had heard the nice words from Kyrgios, and so it happened that Djokovic chatted up his final opponent who had passed: "It took five years for you to say something nice about me," Djokovic joked. And Kyrgios countered: "I defended you when it mattered." That's right, according to Djokovic. "And I give you credit for that."

Are Djokovic and Kyrgios meeting at the nightclub tomorrow?

The dialogue later continued on social media. "Are we friends now?" Kyrgios asked, and Djokovic replied: "If you invite me to dinner, then yes. PS: The winner pays tomorrow."

Kyrgios accepted. "Deal, let's go to a nightclub and go crazy."

Djokovic in the 32nd Grand Slam final

Will it come to that? Of course, a lot could depend on the course of the final. While Djokovic will be contesting his eighth Wimbledon final (and 32nd Grand Slam final ever), Kyrgios is in the final of a major tournament for the first time.

On Friday, the Australian was still nervous about it and talked about sleep problems . In fact, one of the bigger questions might be how rested he comes onto the court.
