Novak Djokovic missed the quarter-finals at the Miami ATP Masters 1000 tournament. The world number one was defeated by Roberto Bautista Agut with 6: 1, 5: 7, 3: 6. The Spaniard thus reduced the head-to-head with the Serb to 3: 7 and also won the second season duel with Djokovic after the semi-final victory in Doha.

Bautista Agut plays a rain break in the cards

After Djokovic had hardly any problems in the first set, the Serb struggled in the second round mainly with his chance evaluation. Djokovic had seven chances to break, but only broke his opponent's service once. After a roughly half-hour rain break at 4: 5 from the Serbian point of view, the game tipped. Bautista Agut took the service from Djokovic to 7: 5 and saved himself in the decision set. There he managed breaks to 3: 1 and 4: 2 and did not miss the success against the 15-time Grand Slam winner.

Defending champion is waiting

In the quarter-finals Bautista Augut now faces John Isner. The American held the upper hand against Kyle Edmund in two sets and feels particularly comfortable in Miami. Last year he won the title in Miami and now holds a remarkable series of nine victories without losing the set at the second Masters 1000 tournament of the year.
