Whether Dominic Thiem will take part in the Australian Open after he gets cold is still in the stars. It is clear, however, that the Austrian is planning an extensive tour of South America in February. Last week it was announced that the 28-year-old will start in Buenos Aires (250) and Rio de Janeiro (500).
It is now certain that Thiem will also take part in the two ATP 250 events in Cordoba and Santiago in the coming year. The world number 15 was at both clay court events. never at the start.
The tournament in Cordoba, Argentina begins on January 31st and will take place immediately after the Australian Open. Thiem will get competition from Diego Schwartzman and defending champion Juan Manuel Cerúndolo, among others.
Thiem will conclude the clay court tour in Santiago, Chile. The tournament will take place from February 21 to 27, parallel to the two ATP 500 events in Dubai and Acapulco. So far, Casper Ruud and Cristian Garin have also confirmed their attendance.
