Bad news for all Dominic Thiem fans: The Austrian has to postpone his comeback in Abu Dhabi, which is scheduled for Thursday. He doesn't feel ready to play at the highest level yet, said the 2020 US Open winner on Twitter.
"It's disappointing not to take part this year, but I have to continue my preparation for the coming season," said Thiem, who would have met Andy Murray on Thursday.
Thiem has been in Abu Dhabi for a few days and should have celebrated his return to the match court in the United Arab Emirates after 177 days. Thiem last played on Mallorca, where he suffered a wrist injury against Adrian Mannarino.
