The trend in recent years has clearly been towards sand. No, not necessarily on the tour, where more and more hard court tournaments are taking place - but as far as the preparation of the tennis professionals is concerned. Instead of red ash, however, it says here: deep beach sand. You don't want to make it too easy for yourself. /

Dominic Thiem is no exception. The Lichtenwörther has exchanged his usual training location Tenerife with his new team for Miami this year and is already digging a lot. Fitness coach Duglas Cordero sets the tone.

Thiem in Miami: It's slowly starting with tennis

"He is well on the way, everything is going according to plan. Condition is being built up, that was the first ten days," said Thiem manager Herwig Straka to APA . Now there is also Nicolas Massu and with it racket and ball again, even if tennis is not really being trained. "But of course he shouldn't just be stupid without a ball."

Above all, it is currently about the conditional area, which must now be strengthened, there are too few options for this during the year.

With Thiem in Miami: in addition to fitness coach Cordero, sports scientist Michael Reinprecht and physiotherapist Alex Stober, as well as brother Moritz. It is planned to continue in Miami until December 20, after which the flight to Australia is planned, where Thiem will begin his season with the newly founded ATP Cup on January 3.

After all, from January 20 to February 3, 2020, the Australian Open will be the first Grand Slam tournament of the year.
