The Austrian decided not to compete in Miami, Monte Carlo and Belgrade due to minor physical and psychological problems.

The mental depression has now been overcome, Thiem was quoted in a contribution by the ORF, but the knee problems are still causing the world number four to create something. Nevertheless, the 27-year-old was cautiously optimistic: "If I look at the matches now, there is even more adrenaline in the game. In general, it is getting better every day."

Thiem satisfied with training units

Therefore, Thiem is still planning to start at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Madrid, which begins on May 2. Until then, the knee should not cause any pain if possible, because the Lichtenwörther is continuously approaching his best level through play.

"In training I play really well again, I move well. (...) As soon as I was really motivated again, it went really quickly," said Thiem, who, according to his own statements, lost a bit of his body would have. The Austrian still has a little time to get himself in top physical shape for the event in Madrid.
