Dominic Thiem is back in training these days

"London shouldn't be a problem," said Dominic Thiem shortly after his quarter-final defeat at the Erste Bank Open against Andrey Rublev. The Austrian should be right, the blister on the ball of his right foot has apparently healed in time and is no longer causing any problems.

For this reason, the 27-year-old is going back to tennis training these days , manager Herwig-Straka told Sport 24 . "Dominic is fine again," said the tournament director of the ATP 500 tournament in Vienna. Special therapy from physiotherapist Alex Stober helped to get the injury under control.

The ATP Finals in London should therefore not be a problem. "With a week of tennis training Dominic should be back on track," said Straka. His protégé will prepare for the last event of the year on the recently opened hard court facility in Traiskirchen in order to achieve a similarly good result as last year. In 2019 Thiem was only inferior to Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final.

According to Straka, the bladder should not fail in the British capital: "Don't worry, Dominic tapes his toes several times before each match. He also has shoes with special insoles that are precisely tailored to the millimeter. Nevertheless, he always gets them when he changes to a different surface Problems. " These should - at least for the time being - have now been resolved at the latest.
