Emma Raducanu passes on the US Open trophy as a "small thank you"
On the sidelines of the Cluj-Napoca tournament, Emma Raducanu explained what she did with her US Open trophy.

The good thing about various Grand Slam tournament victories is, among other things, that you can always redecorate your own trophy cabinet to match. The most important ones to the front, the others perhaps to the now existing academy or a museum. Or in your own museum in your own academy. Everyone is free, you can ask colleagues Williams, Federer, Nadal and Djokovic.
The special thing about the first Grand Slam title is the first cup, in the case of Emma Raducanu it was the first on the tour anyway. So you have the picture in mind of how good Emma keeps her trophy right in bed, at least on the bedside table or at least somewhere in her home for regular viewing. And was really wrong with this assumption. Because the cup of your sensational victory is ... in the national tennis center in London.
This is what Raducanu said on Thursday after her eighth final victory at the WTA tournament in Romania. "I thought that the LTA (Lawn Tennis Association, editor's note) did so much for me ... I just wanted them to have him with them, as a token, as a big thank you for everything. You have helped me a lot since a young age and played a major role in my development, "said the 18-year-old. "So this is a small gift."
Raducanu successful in Cluj-Napoca
A nice move from Raducanu - and more trophies, then maybe for the trophy cabinet, should follow at some point. Maybe this week already? In Cluj-Napoca, the British played well, 6: 4, 6: 4 against Ana Bogdan on Thursday. In round 1 she had some problems against Polona Hercog on Tuesday, but then celebrated her first ever win at WTA level.
Raducanu now meets Marta Kostyuk, who was successful against Mona Barthel.
