Ex-Becker coach Bob Brett has passed away

Australian tennis coach Bob Brett has passed away.

Brett worked as a coach on the ATP tour for around 35 years. In this country he was best known for his work with Boris Becker, the two formed a team from November 1987 to February 1991. In January 1991 he had led Becker to the top of the world rankings by winning the Australian Open. Becker and Brett had previously been successful at Wimbledon and the US Open in 1989.

After working with Becker, Brett worked with Goran Ivanisevic, Andrei Medvedev, Nicolas Kiefer and Marin Cilic, among others. Since 2000 he was mainly involved in the Japanese, British and Canadian tennis / youth field.

It was only at the end of last year that Brett received the "Tim Gullikson Career Coach Award" from the ATP.

Bob Brett was 67 years old.
