"Regardless of their rivalry and the incredible fight, they showed a big heart and inspired many tennis players," wrote Djokovic on Instagram.

Zverev went to the Austrian immediately after Thiems 2: 6, 4: 6, 6: 4, 6: 3, 7: 6 (8: 6) victory and hugged his buddy warmly. In their statements about the match, both expressed very appreciative of each other, which apparently impressed Djokovic.

"Thank you both Domi and Sascha for strongly advocating your values and always keeping an eye on what is most important - love and respect for one another," wrote Djokovic: "Congratulations to both of you on the great performance and the fantastic game, that you gave to the tennis world. "

Djokovic himself was disqualified as a top favorite in the round of 16 after hitting a line judge on the neck with a ball that had been knocked away. The "Djoker" is currently already at the start in Rome, where the Masters tournament is running this week. Djokovic is in the top ahead of Rafael Nadal.
