Filip Misolic gave the all-clear after retiring in the Lisbon final

It wasn't the ending Filip Misolic had imagined for his stay in Lisbon. Set as number four, the Styrian reached the semi-finals of the ATP Challenger event after strong performances, but had to give up due to injury after losing the opening set against Frenchman Luca van Assche. However, Misolic was at least able to cautiously give the all-clear to tennisnet.com : the task in Lisbon was primarily a precautionary measure.

"The reason for my resignation was that I felt pain in the right groin area. When I move laterally left-right, it hurts a little. I didn't want to risk anything, force something and then make it worse," he said 21 year old. For this reason, the task - as much as it hurts athletically - was the only right option: "I decided that it was best that I give up to make sure that no major injury resulted from it"; said Misolic, who was back home on Monday.

Misolic is looking at Erste Bank Open

In the coming days, the focus for the Styrian will be on the exact clarification of the injury: "I will now have the injury checked with my physiotherapist to find out exactly what it is and definitely have it treated so that I can get back to 100 as soon as possible % I'm in top shape. Then I'll start training on hard court to prepare for the hard court season," says Misolic, who of course also has an eye on the Erste Bank Open in Vienna, which starts on October 24th.

There is currently no more precise information about how the Austrian will start in the Wiener Stadthalle: "I don't know much about the Erste Bank Open at the moment, I don't have any information yet. But I think that will be clarified in the next few days and weeks," says Misolic, who is ranked 138th in the world. just behind Jurij Rodionov (ATP-135.) is number two in the country. In his last (and first appearance) at ATP level on home soil, the man from Graz sensationally reached the final in Kitzbühel.
