Casper Ruud and Rafael Nadal pose in Quito, Ecuador's capital

So far, the off-season for Rafael Nadal and Casper Ruud has not had much to do with relaxing on the couch at home: just after the end-of-year tournament in 2022 - the ATP Finals in Turin - the Spaniard and his Norwegian sports colleague went on an exhibition tour through the south - and Central America, not without the Mallorquin adding a two-day appearance at an amateur golf tournament together with his Barca uncle Miguel Angel Nadal.

Until yesterday, both appearances (Argentina, Brazil) of the French Open finalists of the tennis year that just ended had gone to the 22-time Grand Slam winner. While the "bull from Manacor" was able to prevail in Buenos Aires with 7: 6 (8), 6: 2, the result in Belo Horizonte was finally 7: 6 (4), 7: 5.

Football to pass the time at the airport

In Quito, Ecuador, the time had come: Ruud was able to beat the former world number one for the first time during the Latin America Exhibition Tour with two 6:4 scores. For the sake of completeness, it should be mentioned that at the station in Santiago de Chile, Chile, the Scandinavian was not part of the party, which is why Nadal with the world number 86. and local hero Alejandro Tabilo had to be content. The Iberian won 7: 6 (6), 6: 3 against the 25-year-old.

The plane is now flying to Bogota, Colombia and on to Mexico City, where the show fight tour will end on December 1st. Speaking of flying, a video of Nadal, Ruud and some supervisors recently went viral showing the gentlemen mentioned at 2am at Belo Horizonte Airport while they pass the time with some football. A real eye-catcher...
