With an estimated earnings of $90.7 million , the famous Forbes magazine estimates Roger Federer's earnings for the evaluation period from May 2, 2021 to May 1, 2022. /

Federer only earned a fraction of that on the pitch itself, namely around 700,000 US dollars. The lion's share, 90 million US dollars, comes from sponsors such as the clothing company Uniqlo, the racket manufacturer Wilson, the watch company Rolex, the coffee machine company Jura or the car manufacturer Mercedes. Entry fees are also included, although these are almost negligible due to Federer's long break.

Federer signed a ten-year contract with Uniqlo in 2017 that was valued at $300 million - that's $30 million a year. Federer also has a stake in Swiss shoe company On, which recently released a Federer tennis shoe.

Federer's only tennis player in top 10

Roger Federer is once again the only tennis player among the Forbes top ten.

Soccer star Lionel Messi is enthroned at the top here with 130 million US dollars (75 on the pitch, 55 off), ahead of basketball player Lebron James with 121.2 million (41.2 / 80), the soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo with 115 million (60 / 55) and Neymar with 95 million (70 / 25), as well as basketball players Stephen Curry 92.8 million (45.8 / 47) and Kevin Durant with 92.1 million (42.1 / 50).

Federer follows in number 7

Behind Federer (7th place) are boxer Canelo Alvarez with $90 million in revenue (85/5), American footballer Tom Brady with $83.9 million (31.9/52) and basketball player Giannis Antetokounmpo with $80.9 million (39.9 / 41) done.

Two years ago, Federer topped the Forbes list for the first time when his earnings were estimated at $106.3 million .

Let's put it this way: Federer will be able to cope with the losses in 2021/2022 - especially since he hardly played anyway and thus saved a lot on travel expenses. Federer's last appearance on the court comes from the Wimbledon tournament in the summer of 2021. After that he had to have his knee operated again and is working on his comeback. Federer hopes to return to Wimbledon 2022, even if doubts have recently flared up.
