While Djokovic only stayed 83 minutes on the Philippe-Chatrier court to celebrate his 70th match win at the French Open, Denis Shapovalov on Suzanne-Lenglen had to watch after exactly five hours of play, like a forehand volley behind the Baseline landed. And Roberto Carballes Baenas was able to celebrate his entry into the third round. Shapovalov had served for the win at 5: 4 and 6: 5 in the fifth set, and the Spaniard equalized both times. Less because he pushed the gas himself. But because Shapovalov was very generous with avoidable mistakes.

In the end the result was 7: 5, 6: 7 (5), 6: 3, 4: 6 and 8: 6 for Carballes Baena, who meets Grigor Dimitrov in round three. The Bulgarian had no problems with Andrej Martin in his three-set win.

For Novak Djokovic it can be guessed that he will not be challenged enough in his third appearance either. Daniel Elahi Galan Colombia won confidently against Tennys Sandgren in round two. The Colombian is listed in the ATP world rankings only in 153rd place.
