Ofner's match against Elias Ymer was canceled on Wednesday due to darkness in the second set - at a score of 4: 3 for the young Swede in the second set. Ofner managed to equalize after resuming. And, as in the first set, made up for an early deficit in the tie-break. After the 0: 3 deficit, the Styrian used his first match ball after 2:15 hours of play to 7: 6 (4), 7: 6 (5).
Yuri Rodionov had not let anything slip against the Russian Roman Safiullin on Wednesday. And won with 6: 3 and 6: 2.
Whoever will make it into the main draw - both Ofner and Rodionov have an advantage over Dominic Thiem and Dennis Novak: match practice. While Thiem did not compete in Hamburg after his triumph at the US Open, Novak also made himself scarce after his defeat in Kitzbühel against Maximilian Marterer.
