Alexander Zverev was number five in the top quarter of the tableau and could face Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinals. In round one, the native of Hamburg must first of all survive against the strong Australian John Millman. In bark three there could be a reunion with Dusan Lajovic, after which Fabio Fognini would be an option.

The eleven-time winner and defending champion Rafael Nadal meets a qualifier at the beginning and also in round two. Novak Djokovic, however, is number one in the second Grand Slam tournament of the year - and meets the dangerous Pole Hubert Hurkacz in the first match. Returnee Roger Federer has made his first appearance in Roland Garros since 2015 against Italian Lorenzo Sonego.

Struff against Shapovalov

Last year's finalist Dominic Thiem got to do with the American Tommy Paul. In the second round a qualifier or Alexander Bublik would wait for the Austrian.

From a German perspective, things could have gone better: Jan-Lennard Struff plays against Denis Shapovalov - not a hopeless story for the Warsteiner. Philipp Kohlschreiber was drawn to Robin Haase, a nice veteran duel. For Peter Gojowczyk, the lottery drum spit out local hero Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. Mischa Zverev also plays with Richard Gasquet against a Frenchman. Maximilian Marterer was out of luck, it goes against Stefanos Tsitsipas. Cedric-Marcel Stebe plays against Karen Khachanov.

Yannick Hanfmann, Rudolf Molleker and Yannick Hanfmann also come from the qualification into the 128 grid.
