In the morning, Dominic Thiem still had business matters to do in Vienna and also took part in an Instagram chat with Barbara Schett at lunchtime. At the start of the match in the south town against Lucas Miedler (who was a spectator at the Schett chat) Thiem was then completely there, especially up to the score of 6: 1 and 2: 1. Then Miedler worked out a total of three breakballs - the favorite fought off with some spectacular balls, went 3-1 in the lead.

The next break followed, Miedler was able to use his second opportunity for at least a small comeback, shortened. But Thiem took the book back in his hand and got Miedler's serve to 5: 2. The very last point of the match would have deserved a full stadium: Tweener from the baseline Miedler, Tweener volley Thiem, conclusion with the smash.

Tomorrow at 4 p.m. (live on TV and livestream on ServusTV and in our live ticker) there is already the next appearance of the Austrian number one: Thiem will then meet Sandro Kopp, who played the last match of the day against David Pichler on Wednesday.
