In a relaxed match, Thiem won 7: 6 (8), 6: 4 and followed David Pichler into the final of the Generali Austrian Pro Series.

Thiem and Novak took it easy, the intensity was lacking - but it was still exciting. After a 6-2 lead in the tiebreak of the first round, Thiem already looked like the sure set winner, especially since Novak ran into the net with a rather weak attack against himself on the first set ball, but Thiem's backhand slammed into what felt like 300 km / h Out. The third in the world rankings did not use the following set balls either, but Novak himself had the opportunity at 8: 7. In the end, however, Thiem won the opening after a long and fine rally.

In the second set, the Lichtenwörther had to turn 0:40, then he made the decisive break 5: 4, shortly afterwards he ended the friendly game with a decided butterfly on the neighboring soccer field.

In the final, Thiem is already waiting for David Pichler, who surprisingly prevailed against Lenny Hampel, Jürgen Melzer and Sebastian Ofner as group leaders in his final group.

It remains to be hoped that there will be a more exciting duel than in the first group phase: Thiem distributed the maximum penalty against Pichler.
