Generali Austrian Pro Series: Novak misses group victory, Neuchrist beats Ofner
At the morning games of the Generali Austrian Pro Series on Tuesday morning, Dennis Novak had to admit defeat in three sets against Sam Weißborn - and thus ended the group C behind Alexander Erler.

After the smooth 6: 4, 6: 2 of Alexander Erler against youngster Lukas Neumayer, Novak was not allowed to lose in the match against double specialist Sam Weißborn. Austria's number two had successfully made its first two appearances against Erler and Neumayer, but had to go over three sets each. Novak won the first set against Weißborn with the only break 7: 5, but was quickly 0: 2 in the second round.
Novak managed the re-break to 2: 2, had his first two match balls at a score of 6: 5, which Weißborn was initially able to fend off. The conditions on Tuesday were not easy: gusty wind made it difficult for all players. This wind plus the net edge helped Dennis Novak to his third match ball, which again did not lead to the goal. A tie-break had to make the decision. Weißborn quickly took the lead 4-0, Novak persistently worked his way back into the quick decision. After two hours of play, Weißborn found his first set ball at 6: 4 - and used it. First set win for the left-hander, Novak had to shift an additional shift.

And Dennis Novak made it really exciting: three times the favorite was in the lead with a break, three times equalized Weißborn, so to 5: 5, when Novak was already serving on the match win. Another tie-break - and again it was Weißborn who got off to a better start, winning five of the six points until the first break. Like the last two of the match after three hours to the final score of 5: 7, 7: 6 (4), 7: 6 (1). Novak finished Group B in second place behind Erler, Weißborn was fourth in phase one of the Generali Austrian Pro Series.
In group D, Max Neuchrist did not stay with Sebastian Ofner for long - and won against Styria 6: 2 and 6: 1. With that Neuchrist Ofner overtook in the table. The final bill will only be given after the last match of the group between Philipp Oswald and Moritz Thiem (second match after 4 p.m., in our livestream and match tracker). Oswald has lost to Ofner so far, but has won against current leaders Neuchrist.
