Dominic Thiem should have played the first Generali Austrian Pro Series match against David Pichler today at 12 noon. After persistent rain, the first four games of the new tournament series had to be canceled in consultation with the players, according to organizer Alexander Antonitsch on Monday morning. It would have been possible to get the court in the federal performance center in Südstadt going until mid-afternoon. However, the short-term weather forecasts raised fears that there would be further rains.

Already in the night from Saturday to Sunday, the strong wind had affected the hermetically sealed place to such an extent that the court had to be rebuilt after several hours, Antonitsch continued. A tarpaulin to protect the playing area was out of the question due to the corona restrictions - the necessary workforce was missing.

The matches of the first day will be rescheduled on a new date, the following games are on the program tomorrow, Tuesday: Lenny Hampel and youngster Marko Andrejic will meet from 12 p.m. Jürgen Melzer and Jurij Rodionov will not meet until 2 p.m. Dominic Thiem will make his debut against Lucas Miedler from 4 p.m. (live on TV and livestream on ServusTV). Sandro Kopp and David Pichler will not finish before 6 p.m.
