The road to defending the title at the Generali Open 2022 will be rocky for Alexander Erler and Lucas Miedler - but after the experiences of the sensational triumph of the two Austrians twelve months ago, one could also ask: Why not again? Especially since Erler/Miedler proved their good form with the success at the Challenger in tampere. The two local heroes start in Kitzbühel against the Dutchmen Tallon Griekspoor and Bart Stevens. After that, however, it could already go against the pair seeded in first place: Tim Pütz and Michael Venus.

The German Davis Cup player and his New Zealand partner are among the best couples on the ATP tour and have reached the semi-finals in Hamburg this week. In the annual ranking, the ATP Race to Turin, Pütz and Venus are currently in tenth place. The two start off against two Austrians: Lukas Neumayer and Sebastian Ofner.
The two-time French Open champions Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies were also drawn into the upper half. "KaMies" play in round one against the two Spaniards Albert Ramos-Vinolas and Carlos Taberner.

Oswald and Haase in Gstaad in the final

Philpp Oswald and Robin Haase form an exciting duo. Especially in Kitzbühel, where both have already won. Oswald in doubles alongside Filip Polasek in 2019. Haase in singles in 2011 and 2012. Haase/Oswald are currently doing well together in Gstaad, are in the final there today - and three years ago they already won the doubles title fetched Umag. Haase and Oswald start straight away against the number two of the tournament, Matwe Middelkoop and Rohan Bopanna.

Neil Oberleitner and Jurij Rodionov also received a wild card. The two Austrians start against the fourth seeded Belgians Joran Vliegen and Sander Gille. They in turn reached the final of the Generali Open in Kitzbühel in 2019.
