Because the Styrian sensation and the Karlsruher could not finish their semi-final game on Friday. And so a tie-break will decide who plays for the title. That it happened at all is due to Misolic's incredible fighting spirit. Because he was already in the third set with two breaks and 1: 4 behind, then Hanfmann served at 6: 5 for victory. And failed at this task.
The 20-year-old Austrian reached the tie-break with the next re-break. The match had to be interrupted when the score was 1:0 for the local hero. The sequel is on Saturday from 1:30 p.m.
Misolic with two monster comebacks
Misolic had already turned a match that had been thought lost during his first appearance on Friday. He was already 6-2 and 5-3 behind in the quarterfinals against Dusan Lajovic, which was postponed to Friday. However, with a mixture of patience and spectacular shots, he managed to turn the game around.
In the first semi-final, Roberto Bautista Agut defeated Albert Ramos-Vinolas 6-4 and 7-6 (3). The result does not quite reflect the drama that built up towards the end of the second set: Bautista Agut was already leading 5-2, then lost four games in a row. And just barely crossed the finish line. The veteran received the first congratulations from his almost two-year-old son Roberto on the center court.
For Bautista Agut it is about the tenth title of his career, the last one he won in Doha at the beginning of the year. Most recently he was in the final in Mallorca, but then had to withdraw from Wimbledon due to a corona infection.
