The ATP tour has had the Grand Slam champion back since the end of March, and in July it will also be in Kitzbühel: Welcome back Dominic Thiem! Thiem will play his tenth ATP tournament in 2022 on the Kitzbüheler Sand with which he associates many emotional memories. Here he earned his first ATP points, played his first match at ATP level, reached a final for the first time and finally won his maiden title on home soil in 2019.

This year, Kitzbühel is above all an important step for Dominic Thiem to get closer to his desired top form by the time of the North American hard court tournaments. And - the organizers are convinced - a boost for self-confidence. "We know that Dominic loves to play in front of a home crowd. We will do everything we can to bring the best atmosphere to the stadium and hope that he can take this momentum with him and build on his old successes in Kitzbühel," said tournament director Alexander Antonitsch.

Thiem in good company

Being able to re-engage the 17-time ATP tournament winner after a two-year absence is of great importance to the organizers of the Generali Open Kitzbühel. But talks are also in full swing with other well-known and up-and-coming players: "We are happy about numerous inquiries and can already say with certainty that tennis fans can expect an attractive field of players at the Generali Open Kitzbühel 2022," explain the tournament organizers Herbert Günther and Markus Bodner.

More about the names in the starting field will be announced in the coming weeks. "Now we are happy that Austrian tennis fans can experience Dominic Thiem live again after two years, on home soil. Together we want to help him to experience the enthusiasm for tennis that will now also push him to find his old strength again, ”said the organizers.

World-class tennis to a full house

In any case, Thiem is certain of the support of the home fans: After two difficult years of Corona, the organizers are currently planning with full capacities on the center court. The advance ticket purchase has already started more than satisfactorily. The Generali Open also promises to be a big tennis festival thanks to the many activities alongside the sport - from morning pints to Alpquell Kitz4Kids Day to Krone Ladies Day with Babsi Schett and the amateur tournament "Generali Race to Kitzbühel". Tickets are still available in all categories www.generaliopen.com to purchase.
