Roberto Bautista Agut and Pedro Martinez played each other on the center court of Kitzbühel for three hours and five minutes on Wednesday, then the outsider was allowed to cheer inside-in after a successful forehand: Martinez won 6: 4, 6: 7 (5) and 7 : 5. The next task also seems to be solvable for the Spaniard: It goes against the Slovak Jozef Kovalik, who won against Jiri Vesely with 2: 6, 6: 2 and 6: 4.
And a second co-favorite for the title had to say goodbye after the first match: Albert Ramos-Vinolas, still defeated by Dominic Thiem in the 2019 final in Kitzbühel, lost 6: 7 (3), 6: 1 to Gianluca Mager from Italy and 5: 7.

After all: With Filip Krajinovic, who was able to assert himself against the lucky loser Carlos Taberner 6: 3, 2: 6 and 6: 4, the number three of Kitzbühel is in the quarter-finals. The top seed Casper Ruud was only scheduled for the last match on Wednesday.
There was also great drama in the match between Holger Runde and Arthur Rinderknech: The 18-year-old Dane had a match point in the third set at 5: 3, could not serve it at 5: 4 - and had to face the more experienced Frenchman with 4: 6 , 6: 3 and 6: 7 (4) are beaten.
