The likelihood that Diego Schwartzman streamed the Generali Austrian Pro Tour matches live into his living room at home in Argentina is probably very small. But maybe Schwartzman noticed in his isolation that Sebastian Ofner had inflicted the only defeat on his good friend Dominic Thiem during the series. On Thursday, Ofner demonstrated again after a weak first sentence that he can keep up with the extended world top, to which Schwartzman undoubtedly belongs as number 14 on the ATP charts.
Especially in the second set, the last remaining Austrian took care of with an intermediate sprint from 0: 1 to 5: 1 in front of the ski aces Michael Kirchgassner (meanwhile in sports pension) and Josef Ferstl (who has interrupted his training for the coming season) good mood in the stands. And the Styrian also showed his fighting skills in the decision: Schwartzman led 3: 1, Ofner managed the re-break, possibly also because his opponent was bent over briefly.
With a score of 5: 4 and Schwartzman's serve, the underdog was only two points away from winning the match, Ofner couldn't close the sack. In return, he had to take another break in the eleventh game, Schwartzman was able to serve with some difficulty after 2:13 hours of play. On Friday the number two of the tournament will meet Laslo Djere, who defeated Jannik Sinner 6: 4 and 6: 4.
