Tim Pütz and Kitzbühel - that doesn't just fit sporty

tennisnet : Mr. Pütz. First round on Monday in Kitzbühel, then a win by the opponent withdrawing, now the semifinals on Friday. What have you been doing all this time?

Tim Pütz : We trained every day, you have to be honest. But otherwise we enjoyed Kitzbühel. This is probably one of the best tournaments of the year to have four or five days off. Michael also liked it with his family. I went up the horn once...

tennisnet : How?

Pütz : By bike!

tennisnet : Bravo!

Pütz : With the e-bike ... I also rode up the Hahnenkamm, yesterday we went with the mountain carts. I have a very nice hotel where I also did wellness. I really enjoyed the week. result independent. Next week we're going to Montreal, where we used the European summer again.

tennisnet : You have played and won against Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies for the second time this year. Any implications for the Davis Cup?

Pütz : It's definitely somewhere in the back of my mind. But at the end of the day, all three of us are old enough. It's a good situation because we get along very well with each other. We also do something together outside of the tournament. It is a luxury situation for Germany that we have three such good doubles players. It almost doesn't matter which of us is selected. There will be a good double on the field at the Davis Cup. Of course it's stupid that one of the three of us probably won't be there, but we are professionals.

tennisnet : Tim Pütz's recipe for success with Michael Venus is what?

Pütz : First of all, we're really good friends. As a result, we're almost always in a good mood on the pitch. We bring enough individual strengths with us that mean that we usually play successfully. Then you also want to work together. We're here without a coach...

tennisnet : Who is that normally?

Pütz : Dominik Meffert helps us a bit, lately Neville Godwin has also been there more often. And in the weeks that we're alone, we're not lost. We know what we need and what we should do. it helps that we are both very capable. have fun

tennisnet : After you, Philipp Oswald and Robin Haase have just come onto the court. You seem to get along well with both of them...

Pütz : I've already played with Ossi. And with Robin I'm even undefeated. Played Challenger once, won immediately. The list of players I'm unbeaten with isn't very long.

"If things go well, you win a Grand Slam"

tennisnet : How does the height affect your game?

Pütz : Everything is moving closer together. When we play well, it's extremely difficult for our opponents. And vice versa, of course. You could see that today: There wasn't a single break. Kevin and Andi didn't do that much wrong. In the end it comes down to two or three points. And also a bit of luck.

tennisnet : With Matthew Ebden and Max Purcell, two outsiders won in Wimbledon. What does that mean for the chances of you and Michael Venus at the US Open?

Pütz : Everything is possible. But that doesn't only apply to us, but probably to 15 other teams as well. In fact, we've never been better than in a quarter-final at a Major. I never have. We're a good doubles team that plays consistently well. Then you have to look from match to match. And when things go well, you win a Grand Slam. Ask Kevin and Andi!

tennisnet : So that means: Montreal, Cincinnati, then Winston Salem?

Pütz : No, Michael and I are taking a break. My family will be coming with me throughout the trip. Michael's family comes a little later. And then we all meet in New York.
