Gerald Melzer is slowly but surely playing his way into a run in Liberec, Czech Republic. After the Austrian surprisingly defeated number 117 in the men's tennis world, the Slovak Andrej Martin, in round one - Melzer's first win at this level in two years - the Viennese are now in the quarter-finals.
In the second round, Melzer made short work of the Frenchman Evan Furness, ultimately winning 6: 4 and 6: 2. It is the first time Gerald Melzer has made it into a Challenger quarter-finals since October 2018.
In the round of the last eight, the 31-year-old now faces local heroes Tomas Machac.
