Should it remain at 103 titles in Roger Federer's career, then the Swiss will have found a very coherent conclusion with the championship in his hometown of Basel in autumn 2019. After the traditional event has been canceled twice since then, the ten-time triumphant Federer would even compete as defending champion in the coming season. And could then cover part of the way to the St. Jakobshalle in a tram that has recently borne his likeness and more.

The “Federer Express” has been a household word on the tennis tour for years, but it can be assumed that the tram cannot quite keep up with the playing speed of the maestro in his heyday. Or should. Whether Federer will return to the courts of the ATP Tour as a competitor is still in the stars. At the Laver Cup in Boston, the 40-year-old was still on crutches after his third knee operation, and a few days later Federer was able to take off the walking aids at a wedding in Italy.

The Basel bidder's last match so far was a few months ago: In Wimbledon, Federer fought his way to the quarter-finals again, but was defeated by Hubert Hurkacz from Poland. After that, the 20-time major champion had to go under the knife again and was unable to compete in either the Tokyo Olympics or the US Open.
