Holger Rune is definitely an exceptional sporting talent. This has been clear since the young Dane's sensational title win at the ATP Masters 1000 event in Paris-Bercy, where the 19-year-old brought down five top 10 players and even 22 times in the final Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic disenchanted. A statement.

On the other hand, however, there are always escapades on the pitch that are not well received by the fans. Most recently, for example, the ugly private feud with old master Stan Wawrinka, which culminated in an unnecessary exchange at the handshake. One thing is certain: Holger Rune is not only popular with tennis fans.

Great goals at Holger Rune

In principle, that's not a problem for the young Dane, Rune just wants to clear up the insinuation that he's arrogant: "I'm not arrogant, I'm just passionate about what I do. Sometimes I'm too dogged and I make mistakes, but I'm trying to correct them," said the Dane in the Gazzetta dello Sport. "I want to win, but I also want to put on a show on the pitch. I think it's very positive that there's a variety of characters on the tour, otherwise it would all be very boring."

Another characteristic of the 19-year-old Dane: Holger Rune wears his heart on his sleeve, especially when it comes to discussing his short, medium and long-term goals. And here the night of the world rankings is also very clear to the Italian medium: "I want to win Roland Garros and see myself as part of the future Big Three together with Alcaraz and Sinner."

While Stan Wawrinka is unlikely to be a great friend anymore, Rune seems to have a great relationship with one man in particular: Nick Kyrgios. In any case, the 19-year-old has nothing but admiration for the Australian. "I love his personality, I wish I could have his serve. When I was still competing at Futures, he didn't hesitate to talk to me and gave me some tactical advice. We started exchanging messages and since then we have a great relationship."
