No, 2019 was not the year of Eugenie Bouchard . Between February and November, the Canadian suffered an incredible 13 consecutive defeats and even dropped out of the top 200 WTA rankings. In addition, the 25-year-old had to deal with injuries again and again.

Of course, Bouchard can not really save the messed-up season any more, but at the Challenger event in Houston, the former Wimbledon finalist was able to end her incredible defeat series. Bouchard defeated Valentini Grammatikopoulou (WTA 284) in the first round 7: 6 (4) and 6: 4.

Bitter end for Bouchard

But that was not enough, Bouchard even went one better in the second round. Against Francesca Di Lorenzo, the former world ranking fifth at the standings of 6: 2 and 3: 1 benefited from a job of the American.

Bitter for Bouchard: In the third round against Mandy Minella she had to throw the towel early due to an injury on the left foot. The tournament victory in Houston went in the meantime, however, to the Belgian Kirsten Flipkens.
