How much does Dominic Thiem feel in Marbella?
Dominic Thiem is currently training in Marbella for his comeback on the ATP tour. This is exactly what he could celebrate right there in the coming week. Or not?

Dominic Thiem has fared better in terms of the weather in the past few weeks, which have been characterized by intensive preparation for the comeback on the ATP tour. Only 16 degrees Celsius with a fairly high probability of rain are announced for today's Thursday in Marbella, which was different in Miami a few weeks ago. As is well known, an ATP Masters 1000 tournament is being held there. Without Thiem - which he will probably get over. The sense of achievement in Florida has been few and far between.
No, Dominic Thiem will celebrate his return on ashes. The only question is: where? The 2020 US Open champion is on the entry list in Monte Carlo and Belgrade, before that a start in Marrakech would also be conceivable. But why wander into the distance? There is a challenger coming up in Marbella next week.
Thiem with wild card in Marbella?
There, Thiem could prepare for the following, larger tasks in good company: Stan Wawrinka received a wildcard from tournament director Florian Leitgeb and will play his first match in Marbella since March 2021, where he failed in Doha to Lloyd Harris. Leitgeb still has a second fixed place in the tableau, but he doesn't seem to be in any particular hurry. Because if Dominic Thiem raised his hand, he would probably get the wildcard. If not, there could always be an ambitious pro who would reacquaint himself with the ash in the best competition conditions.
A sticking point for Dominic Thiem will be how many practice sets he has completed with attractive practice partners. It doesn't matter where the 28-year-old really starts. But the prospect of a backhand duel between Thiem and Wawrinka that can hardly be surpassed aesthetically? That would be something. The sooner the better. Gladly already from Monday in Marbella.
