Quite surprisingly, the number one in the tournament at the ATP 250 event in Cordoba had to say goodbye in the quarter-finals. The local hero Diego Schwartzman, a thoroughbred clay court specialist, should fail in three sets in his only second appearance in Cordoba against the Spaniard Albert Ramos-Vinolas. This in turn was able to return the favor for last year's edition of the tournament: At that time, Diego Schwartzman had the upper hand in the quarter-finals - and had finally made it into the final.

Immediately after his departure, the world number nine then declared that he had to fight with severe pain in his right knee, as reported by the tennis portal Punto de Break. Accordingly, Schwartzman is currently treating the injury with painkillers, as long as it is not clear how severe the 28-year-old's injury really is.

Schwartzman plans with Buenos Aires

But the Argentine probably doesn't think it's too bad himself. Schwartzman confirmed in the press conference that his appearance at the ATP 250 event in Buenos Aires was probably not in danger. In Buenos Aires, the world number nine still has a lot to make up for, as Diego Schwartzman lost his semi-finals there last year without a fight.

After the event in Argentina, Schwartzman will switch back to hardcourt and will do the honors at Acapulco's ATP 500 event. After that, the next big season highlight is just around the corner, the ATP Masters 1000 event in Miami is scheduled to start on March 24th.
