Will Juan Martin del Potro return to the ATP tour at the beginning of the coming season?

Juan Martin del Porto, the Argentine giant with the irresistible forehand, has a long history of suffering behind him. The 33-year-old has not played a match since 2019, and a stubborn knee injury has forced the audience favorite to take a long break. But del Potro has not yet had enough, has been working hard on his comeback for some time and was recently able to come up with videos of the first training sessions on the tennis court - equipped with a support sock on the knee.

Now these units seem to bring positive results to light, allegedly the Argentine could already make his comeback on the ATP tour at the beginning of the coming calendar year. These rumors recently fueled the tournament director of the ATP 250 event in Cordoba, Marcelo Denti. On the sidelines of a press conference for a Challenger event, he emphasized that del Potro could be present at the next edition of the clay court tournament: "It is good news that Juan Martin has included the Cordoba option in his personal agenda," said Denti.

Returning to Cordoba?

The organizers would do their best to make a start of the local hero at the ATP 250 event come true, the tournament director said. This alludes to statements made by the 33-year-old on the sidelines of the US Open: "In Argentina I played very little in my career, there is also a tournament there at the beginning of the year, so this time there are others Alternatives that touch the emotional side, and maybe I'll hear more from that side, "explained del Potro at the time.

According to del Potro, he has to listen carefully to his body, which is why it may not be advisable to celebrate his comeback in a best-of-five tournament. So it seems likely that the comeback of Juan Martin del Potro will only be a matter of time. The ATP 250 event in Cordoba is planned for the end of February. And at the moment it seems to be the most likely address for the eagerly awaited return of the Tower of Tandil.
