Juan Martin del Potro wants to make his comeback soon

While the Australian Open has now reached the very hot phase, the South American clay court tour is already casting its shadow. This is primarily due to two gentlemen: Dominic Thiem and Juan Martin del Potro. Both plan - after an unequally long injury break - to celebrate their comebacks on the ATP tour at the events in South America.

The Austrian Thiem wants to start in Cordoba next week, while del Potro is aiming for a start in Buenos Aires as the place of return. Plans that now seem to be shaky, as reported by La Nacion. Accordingly, the Argentine had to interrupt his preparation for the ATP 250 event in his home country to undergo knee infiltration. This is intended to alleviate the pain that del Potro has been struggling with in the past few days.

Launch not officially confirmed yet

As the Argentine medium explained, the pain increased as the intensity of Juan Martin del Potro's training increased. And that of all places at the point where the tower of Tandil had to undergo an operation. Accordingly, there is currently no official confirmation from the 33-year-old as to whether he will start in Buenos Aires and also in Rio de Janeiro.

Juan Martin del Potro has not played an official match since June 2019. While preparations for a return to the court have been going on for a few weeks, the Argentine has now ramped up the intensity and was about to play the first sets with compatriot Juan Ignacio Londero when complaints flared up again. The following applies to the return of Juan Martin del Potro at the moment: nothing is certain.
