Kei Nishikori 's time of suffering will not end for the time being: Contrary to what was originally planned, the Japanese will not start at the ATP 250 tournament in Winston-Salem, which begins on August 21. The organizers of the hard court event announced this via Twitter. Accordingly, Nishikori returned his wildcard.

After his hip surgery at the end of January, Nishikori apparently still needs some time to get fit for the match. The Japanese player, who is now only 160th in the world rankings, played his last game so far in October last year at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Indian Wells.

The fans of the 32-year-old will probably not have to wait too long for the comeback, Nishikori posted a training video on social media on Wednesday. It is questionable whether the Japanese will return to the tour at the US Open in New York. Since Nishikori is not on the entry list, he would need a wildcard from the organizers. As a finalist in 2014, no problem.
