The choice of the best player of the year should be anything but easy for media representatives this year. In 2020, no dominator emerged on the women's tour, the three Grand Slam titles to be awarded were divided among as many players. Sofia Kenin won in Australia, Naomi Osaka triumphed in New York and Iga Swiatek, who is also the clear favorite in the category "Most Improved Player", took the crown in Paris. In addition to the three major winners, Simona Halep, Aryna Sabalenka and Victoria Azarenka are also available.

Azarenka could also assert herself in the "Comeback Player of the Year" category. The US Open finalist gets competition from the German Laura Siegemund, who reached the quarter-finals at the French Open. The list is completed by Tsvetana Pironkova and Patricia Maria Tig.

Announcement of the winners on December 8th

In doubles, Alexa Guarachi / Desirae Krawczyk, Nicole Melichar / Xu Yifan, Kristina Mladenovic / Timea Babos and Barbora Strycova / Hsieh Su-Wei will fight for the title among themselves. Big favorites are Mladenovic and Babos, who won both the Australian Open and the French Open.

The "Newcomer of the Year" shouldn't be quite as clear. With Leylah Fernandez, Ann Li, Nadia Podoroska and Martina Trevisan, four players have been nominated, all of whom can look back on an extremely strong season. All winners will be announced on December 8th.
