For Davis Cup captain Michael Kohlmann , the party pictures of the Adriatic tour , in which Germany's top player Alexander Zverev had also taken part, damaged all tennis.

"This is not a good thing for sport. It has created a negative perception that has also reached people who are not so much involved in tennis," said Kohlmann on the sidelines of the opening of the center court at the Bad Homburg Open.

The German top player was a participant in the controversial Adriatic tour, in which several players like organizer Novak Djokovic became infected with the corona virus after lavish parties. Shortly thereafter, another video appeared with Zverev, which showed the world ranking seventh at a celebration - although he had assured himself that he was going to isolate himself. However, the pictures of this celebration cannot be clearly assigned in time. However, Zverev has since withdrawn from the public, several requests from various media to him and his management remained unanswered.

Kohlmann, on the other hand, can understand that Zverev canceled his participation in the invitation tournament (13th to 19th July) in Berlin at short notice to test a collaboration with the Spaniard David Ferrer. "It is definitely the right way for him to start successfully," he suspected. The 46-year-old is convinced that Zverev's cooperation with Ferrer could work: "Both have great respect for one another, that is the decisive factor and a good prerequisite for proper cooperation," said Kohlmann.
