Andreas Möller are attributed some bon mot in football history, as well as the assessment that after a match he had "a feeling of feeling good". In the case of Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies, this condition could probably be transferred to a whole city, namely Paris. In the first half of the year, the two Germans surprisingly won the title at the French Open, at the end of the regular season Krawietz / Mies stand in the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in the hall of Paris-Bercy in the quarterfinals.
And the highest rated couple. The Munich and the Cologne had gone to number five in the event, now only Ivan Dodig and Filip Polasek are number eight and the one better positioned French Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut represented in the last eight.
Repeating the French Open final in the semi-finals?
Two other local heroes, Jeremy Chardy and Fabrice Martin, will face the semi-final opponents Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies tomorrow, Saturday. In a rematch of the final of Roland Garros in June. At that time, the Germans prevailed with 6: 2 and 7: 6 (3), Chardy / Martin retaliated last week at the tournament in Basel in round one. A few days after Krawietz and Mies had their third title in Antwerp in 2019. First, however, the Germans have to deal with Jamie Murray and Neal Skupski, the two unseeded British.
Speaking of a favorite role would therefore not be overly optimistic, with the match-tiebreaking mode opening the door to chance or five good minutes too often to replace a full third act. But when it comes to the full distance, then Krawietz and Mies are fully there. They have recently shown that at the US Open, where the two failed only in the semifinals to Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos. The turn under in Paris Murray / Skupski.
For the end of the game, Krawietz and Mies can switch off the factor of chance as well as off: Both at the ATP Finals in London as well as the Davis Cup final tournament in Madrid, the third set is played. But first, there's the second Paris meeting of the year with Chardy and Martin.
