Leylah Fernandez won in the final against the Swiss Viktorija Golubic 6: 1, 6: 4 and remained without a set loss as in the entire tournament. /

In the last game, especially the last two points, she was very nervous, Fernandez admitted afterwards - but she managed to stay calm. Mexico remains in good shape, having already reached the final in Acapulco last year.

However, things have been going well for Golubic as well, having reached the final in Lyon two weeks ago, also as a qualifier.

Fernandez also played her courageous tennis in the final with lots of net attacks. "I just went out and tried to implement what I play in training," she explained.

Fernandez has to go to Miami on Monday

In the new WTA ranking, it will continue to improve, from 86th place to 69th place. Golubic is also climbing further, rising from 102nd place to 81st place.

However, Fernandez does not have time to celebrate her greatest success: She is also at the start at the Miami Open and has to go through the qualification there - her first match against Mihaela Buzarnescu is already scheduled for this Monday evening.
