The final match between Dominic Thiem and Stefanos Tsitsipas last Sunday saw an average of 677,000 people, the strongest ever in the history of ServusTV. The peak was over 1 million. The livestream on servustv.com was also the best of the year with 141,000 video views.

By comparison, extrapolated to the number of inhabitants, 1 million viewers in Austria correspond to around 10 million viewers in Germany - figures that have become utopian since the golden tennis days of Boris Becker and Steffi Graf. Beckers Wimbledon victory in 1986 against Ivan Lendl saw more than 14 million spectators alone in West Germany , in 1988 in Graf's victory over Martina Navratilova about 10 million. Angelique Kerber, however, came on her Wimbledon victory in 2018 to only 2.28 million viewers on ZDF.

Another comparison from Austria: Thomas Muster's French Open victory in 1995 tracked 1.25 million viewers on the ORF. However, such high ratings were much easier to achieve in earlier times because private television was still in its infancy, with many people having only two or three programs until the early 1990s. In view of the variety of programs and media today, the current figures for Thiem in Austria are all the more remarkable.

Conclusion: The Thiem-Mania in Austria is in full swing - and this is also reflected in the figures from tennisnet.com . We received 2.8 million hits during our London week through our website and mobile version. The tennisnet FAN app had 210,000 hits, on social media we had well over 300,000 interactions. In this sense, all of you, thank you very much for your trust in us!
