Basically, nobody is closer to the absolute world leader than Patrick Mouratoglou. And that applies to women's and men's tennis. For one, the French coach Serena Williams for many years, has led the American to several Grand Slam titles. Serena sat on the 24th major success in the box of his protégé even in the last futile attempts Serena. And with a not-so-well-hidden coaching in the US Open final in 2018, it was the beginning of the end of his protégé.

The fact that Mouratoglou also has her finger in the team of Cori Gauff, the 15-year-old compatriot of Serena Williams, who won her first tournament on the WTA Tour in Linz this autumn, goes without saying.

Djokovic in best form almost unbeatable

But also for the men Patrick Mouratoglou is solidly anchored. Namely in the support staff of Stefanos Tsitsipas, the newly crowned, though unofficial ATP World Champion. During the week in London Coach Mouratoglou also had plenty of time to look at the competitors of the Greeks in the absolute world class. And in the case of Novak Djokovic his verdict is terrific - although the Serb did not survive the group stage after two defeats against Dominic Thiem and Roger Federer.

In the interview with SPIEGEL Online, in which Mouratoglou reported slight doubts about the development of Alexander Zverev, the star coach for Novak Djokovic had only words of praise left. "When the Big Three are all playing their best tennis, Novak usually wins," said Mouratoglou. "If Novak had not had the two years during which he almost disappeared from tennis, he would probably already be the player with the most Grand Slam titles." In 2019, two major successes have been added to the World Ranking II: Equal at the beginning of the year in Melbourne and at Wimbledon after the epic final against Roger Federer.
