Naomi Osaka clears the ESPYS

Naomi Osaka has appeared in public for the first time since the French Open.

Osaka took part in the "ESPY Awards", an award ceremony organized by the media group around the sports broadcaster ESPN. Osaka was named "Sportswoman of the Year" here.

"I really don't want to give a long speech here because I'm a little nervous," said Osaka. She thanked them at ESPN and their fans. "This year - it's not over yet, but it's really tough for a lot of us." This is her first ESPY, "and it's really cool to be surrounded by all these incredible athletes. You are really cool, I see a lot of you on TV and it's really surreal to be here."

In addition to Osaka, Stephen Curry, Tom Brady, Maya Moore and Lewis Hamilton were honored.

Osaka had withdrawn after leaving the French Open, she had made her mental health problems public here.

In an article for Time Magazine , she recently specified what she really wanted to do with her statements about a redesign of the press conferences in tennis.
