It's an attitude that very few tennis players on this planet embody like Novak Djokovic does. Despite all of the almost unbelievable successes as a lone fighter, it is mostly the appearances for the Serbian team at team events such as the Davis or ATP Cup in which the Serb is at his best. And nothing other than the title win for his country advertises as a major goal.

The best example recently at the Davis Cup Finals in Innsbruck, where the world number one acted almost alone for long stretches. Filip Krajinovic, Dusan Lajovic and also Miomir Kecmanovic disappointed in singles across the board - so it was Djokovic in singles and doubles who should have ensured the victory for his Serbs. The world number one maneuvered his country almost single-handedly until the semi-finals. After all, Croatia should be one size too big there - especially in doubles.

Djokovic one of the sons of the country

The 34-year-old embodies what is particularly evident in the country's colors throughout the year: Novak Djokovic has close ties with his homeland, Serbia. The status of the best tennis player in his home country in recent years is correspondingly high: whether national hero, national pride or son of the country: in Serbia the tennis star is the non-plus-ultra.

It is hardly surprising that the 34-year-old has now received a special award in his home country: the industry leader was given the honor of having his own postage stamp. "I am honored to receive my very own Serbian postage stamp. Many thanks to my generous country for this rare gift! I am honored," wrote Djokovic on Twitter. His foundation, the Novak Djokovic Foundation, will in future work with the Serbian Post Office to give every child the opportunity to attend preschool. Another project close to Djokovic's heart for his homeland.
